We started Mcleod 9 in March 2020 with the idea to elevate a private dining experience and bring that to the comfort of people’s own homes. Unfortunately, lock down hit shortly after. We began to create menus, post them on social media and hopefully get some orders. Our first order started off with 5 humble pies being sold to friends and family and would grow to producing dishes for in excess of 80 people per evening delivering to the local community and further a field.

The dreaded lockdown restrictions lifted and we were finally able to carry out our goal of creating an elevated private dining experience. The process began again, posting on social media and hoping for a few bookings, not before long we had our first booking growing into being fully booked 6 months in advance for our services, providing tasting menus in the comfort of your own home.

We spent 2 years travelling all across the north, lake district and beyond until we were approached by Spring Cottage In March 2022 with an opportunity to open up our own pop up restaurant in the evenings using the cafés venue.

We leaped at the opportunity and advertised our plans across our social media platforms just releasing 3 dates at the end of March. We were absolutely humbled by the whole experience as all 3 events sold out with in 40 minutes of releasing them.

We continued the same process again but this time releasing 6 dates in April. Yet again we where humbled with the response as each event sold out within 30 minutes. We were overwhelmed with joy as each event was a success with amazing feedback.

After the rollercoaster of March and April, we decided to move our services and start our full time residency restaurant at spring cottage, delivering a 5 course tasting menu which would change every month, and 2 years later, we haven’t looked back.
